Here’s the story of how this frightened darling little Podenco went from rags to riches!
Tasha was rescued over a year ago after having been ignored in all likelihood for many months by people walking past. We only found out
about her when PEPA was involved in another rescue and were alerted that there was a stray injured podenco. Tasha had a broken hip and leg she had been like this for many months. The pain she must have been in is difficult to comprehend. It does not end there. Tasha had Sarnia and needed painful antibiotic injections to heal her coat; she also tested positive for leishmaniosis and rickettsia so we had to wait even longer to do her operation. Finally, almost 3 months later this poor broken girl was healthy enough to have her operation. She was very broken not just her bones but her spirit – she wanted nothing to do with people and it has taken her a long time to get where she is now. Hardly surprising that she still prefers dogs. Luckily Tasha was fostered in a brilliant home where there are many dog and where she could start to learn to trust people a little.
Luckier still for Tasha her wonderful foster carers Jacky and Arjan have now adopted her. Here’s what Jacky has to say about Tasha: “She lives with 21 other dogs, including 7 puppies and loves every single one of them. She loves dogs more than humans, but that’s no problem here we do too…!!”
